1. Information We Collect
This Privacy Policy applies to Gringo ("the Platform"), operated by Reger Digital LLC. We collect information you provide: name, email, photos, date of birth, city, trips you add, profile information and the messages you send. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from them (with Apple, this can be a private relay address). We also collect face verification data for identity confirmation, device information, usage data, and push notification tokens.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and improve our services; connect you with other users; translate messages and, when you ask, explain what a message means (Culture); verify your identity and prevent fake profiles; send push notifications; ensure platform safety, including automatically reviewing chat messages and photos to detect scams, requests for money and shared contact details; process subscription payments.
3. Information Sharing
Your profile information (name, age, city, photos, trips) is visible to other users on the platform. We share data with service providers who help operate the Platform: Amazon Web Services (face verification, photo checks), Cloudinary (images), MongoDB (database), Pusher (real-time messaging), Google (translation, sign-in, notifications through Firebase, and Google Play payments), Apple (Sign in with Apple and App Store payments), Anthropic (Culture explanations and automated safety checks of messages and photos) and Mapbox (city search). They process data only to provide their service to us. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption and secure servers. Face verification data is processed securely by AWS Rekognition and is not shared with other users. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
5. Your Rights & Account Deletion
You can update your profile information at any time through the app. To delete your account, go to Profile > Delete Account — this permanently removes your profile, photos, conversations, and messages within 30 days. To request a copy of your data, contact hello@gringoamor.com.
6. Location Data
We collect your city during registration to show you relevant profiles. We use your approximate location to determine your city for display purposes. We do not track your real-time GPS location continuously.
7. Face Verification Data
We use Amazon Web Services (Face Liveness and Rekognition) to check that you are a real person and that your profile photos match you. The verification selfie is stored securely, is used only for identity verification and safety reviews, is never shown to other users, is not shared with third parties beyond AWS, and is not used for advertising. It is deleted together with your account.
8. Push Notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications for new messages. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings. We only send notifications relevant to your activity on the platform.
9. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. Upon account deletion, your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
10. Children's Privacy
The Platform is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a minor has created an account, it will be immediately terminated. For our full child safety policy, visit gringoamor.com/child-safety.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
12. Public Display of Your Profile
To help members find each other, parts of your profile (your photos, first name, age, city, and online status) may be displayed publicly on our website, visible to visitors who are not logged in. Your email, exact location, and contact details are never shown publicly. By creating a profile you consent to this public display.
